Had a quick look on their website. The cheapest is £37 per night for a room catering for 4. That is at a place called Yutz in France. A distance of just over 100km from Bastogne. 1h8m in time on the E2. Luxembourg range's from £42-43.77 per night again for 4. Depending on route taken between 70-84km to Bastogne, 1h2m - 1h11m.

As this was done via my phone, didn't get a good look at Google Maps, dates were 1-4 July.

Not exactly expensive is it. Anything under £50 a room devided by 4 is a goer depending on parking and free parking.

We usually have a meal out so if we did that on the bastogne leg then a hotel is OK?

We need to nail down an itinerary and work out the two location areas that work for travelling. I think Luxembourg is too far east. May be West of bastogne ether NW or SW depending again on itinerary.

Near Arras good Western Base can do Somme, Ypres battle fields then find another Base further east for
VERDUN and Bastogne.??

All have a look incase iv missed something.. Been looking at loads this week so check for any mistakes.

Yes I think poss 3 nights. I'm going to start looking for the East location. Some where between Verdun and Bastogne.

The question is do we come off the ferry and take the first day to ride to say bastogne ie furthest point,
Possibly stay their the night which would be nice being a big town.

Next stop Base Camp 2 near Verdun area for two nights
Then the campsite mentioned above for 3 nights..

Total 6 nights

So ferry early on mon morning to arrive Calais 7/8 am
Mon night Bastogne
Tue Verdun
Wed Verdun
Thurs flinders
Fri flanders
Sat flinders
Ferry back Sun afternoon.

Or start trip a day earlier.

Twin room £59 plus £11 ish for extra bed added

£24 per night each which I don't thinks bad for a modern hotel

219 miles and done just over 4 and a half hours allowing for breaks to Bastogne. You don't save that much by coming in at Dunkirk. Unless wanting to spend a couple of days going around Verdun, not much else down there for an easterly base. without having to do a lot of traveling.

Bases negate the need for equipment but make the trip that side static. Rheims for a possible base or, for this trip, remove Verdun/Bastogne. Judging by the lack of feedback the only person's interested in Verdun/Bas are Me, Grant and Brian.

I can see Reims being an option. 2 hours plus to bastogne and Verdun about 1:15 plus
So two days based at Reims..
Back West for 3 or 4 nights.

I suppose if others don't want to do the east towns then we could drop that part or a small brake off group could go off then come back to the west Base Camp where the others will stay for the whole trip.

I personally would love to do Bastogne but I'm not forcing others who don't.
