If I understand the first one correctly, the hikers hut for 9,.25 euros per person per night looks good on paper as it saves bringing tent and stuff. This would enable group to travel lite. Camping is always cheaper but would require each to bring cooking gear unless we agreed to 'muck in and share'. We all put into the pot and a person cooks.

Seems silly to me, eight of us going and cooking eight different meals each night but that's just my thoughts. Of course if Mr Shiney and Batman are coming then we can all queue outside his, like good little boys, while he feeds us!

Both offer a simple kitchen and we only need a sleeping bag.

Beats bringing a tent and all manor of crap along. Fine by me

The second option limits the hut to a max stay of three days.

im good to go with 3 nts in ypres then perhaps 3 nts elsewhere. bastogne would be quite a good base. i would rather not have to decamp too often as this would make things a bit more relaxed. food wise should not be a problem, we can always do as in normandy.
