Belgium Northern France 2018 An Act of Remembrance
Their probably isn't a single household in the UK which was not in someway affected by the Great War. My Great Uncle (think that's the correct title), was killed on the Somme in July 1916 and is listed as one of the 'Missing' on the wall of the Thiepval memorial.
I plan to organise a trip to visit some of the trenches and cemeteries around the British sector, depending on numbers I will organise a Battlefield guide. I am looking at two periods, ideally in November to fall on the 11th or earlier in the year, if places are booked up.
I know this is four years away but already some of the hotels are full. Partners and friends are all welcome and you will not return the same person.
If interested then please post below.

Re: Belgium Northern France 2018 An Act of Remembrance
Sounds like a plan.
Visited the "operation Market Garden" area of Holland and went to the Reichwald cemetery in Germany a few weeks ago.
Did the D-D areas last year and going to Belgium for the WW1 battlefields next year.
Always very moving and poignant.
Cheers

Re: Belgium Northern France 2018 An Act of Remembrance
I found out last week while out in Belgium that there is a chap based in Ypres who conducts guided motorcycle tours around the Ypres Salient.
I think his name is Johan but not sure of his second name.
If this is of any help I'll try to get some info.
Alternatively a couple of my friends were in Ypres and took a tour which was minibus based and apparently the chap who did that one is also highly rated.
Because I was with the missus and kids we used the Jeugstadion Camp site last week (been there a few times now) and the costs are quite reasonable. If you want to travel light they also have 4 person hikers huts which dont cost too much either.
There are quite a few point of interest concentrated around the Ypres area and a few days is needed really to take them all in
It took us about an hour and a half to get to the Thiepval Memorial and we spent around a full day visiting various memorials etc in the Somme area.
We visited Poperinge on the way back to the ferry. Poperinge is the town behind the lines which was used to provide RnR for the troops who were in rotation to the Trenches.
Perhaps another thing to possibly consider is laying a wreath at the Menin Gate Last Post ceremony which takes place each evening on behalf of the MT Riders.
Happy to provide more info on all the above if its helpful in any way.
