Well ... it seems I might have bought a pup.
Until I bought my MT I hadn't even sat on one or heard one running let alone ridden one.
I had no idea what a Rotax engine sounded like.
Naive? Well I'm no mug. Or at least I thought I wasn't.
I had had a change of heart on what I wanted as my second bike so I decided to sell my MT after about a months ownership to look for something else.
I agreed a price and was selling it to a trader. He has just left ... it seems the engine is 'very noisy'. It sounded the same as the one in his van to us both to be fair.
So, rather than sell it to another mug ... I mean ... someone as inexperienced with the marque as myself, I shall be re-listing on a well known online auction site with the noisy engine mentioned.
Damn and bugger, as my old Dad would say

MTs are not to everyone taste.
The trader may have been trying to get the price down.
The engines are noisey that is the beauty of them. They are basic and run forever. You really need to hear another bike to compare the noise level.
Where is the noise coming from.

Hi Funkle,

If you have a change of heart bring it to Sportax for a full service - I'm sure the noise problem can be solved..

He said it might be piston slap and didn't want to get involved in engines.
I'd have thought a dealer would know a slapping piston ...

That was my first thought when he said it was noisy but he didn't even mention trying to get the price down and I certainly wasn't going to offer.

Will certainly bear you in mind if it doesn't sell.
I rode it back about 80 miles when I bought it and it certainly performed the way people had lead me to believe it would before I bought it (60 mph no problem along A Roads).
It's a mystery really. I'd have thought anything serious would have shown up in performance.
Did I just use the word 'performance' when talking about an MT? I think I did! :o
