Herts TRF

Post by Derrick » Mon Feb 03, 2014 1:21 pm

After many comments from Thumper, I joined the Trail Riders Fellowship last month and went out on their beginners ride yesterday. Excellent ride, helped by very good weather and a great bunch of guys.

We spent about 3 hours covering about 40 miles, riding some muddy lanes. There were about 30 riders in total, mixed between beginners, looking to join the TRF, novices with a few lanes experience and some of the experienced guys to keep an eye and lend a hand.

Not an area I've been to before, but will certainly be out with them agan.

All went well until the last lane, with a long water strech throung the mud. I must have hit something hard underwater as the bke suddenly went sideways and I was left laying in a wet mess. Bike did well. picked it up and it started first time, but at the end of the lane I did notice some damage to the brake lever.

That can be straightened I would suggest heat is applied . it may fracture of you just try to hammer straight.

Hi Derrick.
Sounds like you had a good day out with the TRF . I quite fancy going along to one of their open sessions to see what they get up to. Was there plenty of mud :?:

Certainly plenty of mud and water, but not the thick sticky or chalky mud. There has not been too much rain over the week before, so the water levels had fallen from the previous weekend according to the leader

I'm sure you would be in your element Dave.

Anything listed as a beginners ride is usually open to all riders i.e. Non-TRF members

If you attend more than one ride you're expected to join the TRF

This is a short video of the Herts TRF in action - some great rides all very close to London
