ZIP TIE wrote:Just one thing if you blast the engine and then leave it bare it isn't going to stay silver for very long, unless it's only ridden on the one sunny dry day we get a year.
It'll be powder coated silver Zip as it would end up like the 500 spoke rings after a few years!! Not 604 'grey' but proper silver like my swing arm on blue.. Ive a 604 being done at the moment from a CCM owner..

Progress report. Stardate 2014.

Not much physical progress, apart from shaving the raised HD from a side panel then put some primer on to see if we can get away with making it plain - looks like it might just work.
Otherwise, its been a case of turning shopping lists into orders.
Red plastic mudguards and headlamp panel, wider pegs, silver Renthal bars and red trimmed grips all on order from B&B Road & Trial
Stainless bolt kit, head bearings, fork seals & dust covers on their way from P.I. Staker (thanks George).
Hopefully all these bits and the powder coated frame should be here for the weekend.
Engine dropped off at Minters tonight.
So although I've not been in the garage much, I'm pleased to say things are still moving. We are still aiming to have it done in time to show it off at Stafford.

The first of the goodies arrived today. Can't start the rebuild 'til the frame gets back so it looks like the weekend will be spent cleaning and painting odd bits like battery box, inner mudguard, calipers, etc.

Shiny bits arrived today. Aluminium all polished up. Can you believe he's chromed the kick start and the gear lever?
That's GOT to be a first!

Hey Moose, you will be pleased to hear that the scratched numbers and dints are now out of the tank ready for repaint. I feel like I've destroyed a little piece of history there. Will post pics when done.
She'll look so much younger and prettier you might just want her back???

Tank & side panels now shiny red and, surprisingly, Georges Stainless Steel bolt kit arrived today (delivered by courier at 1pm on a Sunday!).
Frame is due back this week so "Let the rebuild commence".
