MT350 Boxes of bits project

Here is my project bike.
I bought it on EBay as boxes of bits for £850.

It’s a 1993 with 1000km on the clock.
As you can see there was lots of bits.

It came with plenty of new bits.
Plastic fuel tank
Side panels
Carb rubbers
Filters
Rear spindle
Swinging arm
Headlamp housing

Since it was already in bits I thought it was a good idea to give the frame and engine a coat of 2pack primer and gloss.

I went for the black frame with green plastic look.

Image

Once all the parts were painted the assembly started.

Image

This was not that easy even with the excellent manuals, as I didn’t take it to bits.
The trial and error method was used mainly.

Image

Once the rolling chassis was complete I started the wiring.

Image

Fortunately the loom was all in very good condition and obvious where everything went.
I was surprised to find everything worked except it wouldn’t start.
This problem was solved using the workshop manual fault finding table and switching the engine stop switch on.

Image

Not much left to now for the MOT.
The seat is away for re-upholstery to get 2" trimmed off so I can put my feet on the ground.
The brakes need sorting.
Back brake needs bleeding.
Front brake needs connecting at the master cylinder.
I’m not sure of the pipe routing so would appreciate advice and pic’s.

That’s about it its took me about a week to get this far and hopefully another day to get it ready for the MOT.

I hope to have it taxed for October and then let her loose on the North York moors.

Excellent restoration or should i say resurection! You have done a great job. Even with what you spent on paint and sundries it is still a bargain bike.

You must live in an area where they are trialling decilmalised time, 100 "hours" per "day", 10 "days" per "week", that sort of thing, I hear its a new EU directive, soon to be making its way to the rest of the the country.

There's no way you could've done that with old fashioned imperial time, is there :?: :?:
Good work fella

It was planned as a winter project.
But once I got started it went so well I just kept going.
I work away for half the year so try to get as much as I can done when at home.
And the wife doesn't mind as long as I keep the mess out of the house.

Brilliant!

I like the pictures, before, during and ...so far.

You're 2 and half years quicker than me.

Well done and good luck with the mot, let us know how you got on.

Cheers,

Keith.
