Excellent project bike and i too would like to see it at Uttoxeter next year. The only engine swap i have done on a bike(done plenty in cars and landrovers) was a B.S.A B40 engine into a Yamaha DT 175.......don,t ask me why my brother and me thought it was a good idea at the time.

i have been tempted by the mablethorpe fun.. I have a Husky 510 which when I get the bandit out of the way will get some work done on it to play or also sold.
Im liking triumphs, I got to ride an L reg 900 sprint back from down south for a mate. I just find it odd the sound like it's missing but running so smooth.

Yes I just turned the wheel round and it was all ok.I just had to sort out a fitting for the brake master cylinder as the 500 is drum rear.
Thanks for the interest every body,I only build these bikes for my own pleasure but it is nice when other people like them.
I would be keen on bringing it to a show.
By the way, the lad riding it in the pictures is looking at building a similar bike.I want to use a fireblade engine.A Fireblade engine would be suitable due to the layout of it's engine mounts.I think that the Armstrong chassis is a very good chassis for fitting larger engines into due to it's simple layout and the big box section spine.I must say though that the insurance was a bit problematic,I think they only covered it due to my long no claims and history of riding turbocharged bikes.

You've done the inline thing how about trying to squeeze in a big Vtwin VTR, TL etc

This thread has got me all interested in an engine transplant. I still love my standard 350 but would consider a "breaker" as a project. I don,t have any photos of the B40 into Yamaha DT 175. Cameras were relatively expensive back then and few people had them. Now they give them away with cornflakes and are within the reach of everyone. Even my nine year old daughter has had a digital camera for a couple of years.
