MT on the Drag Strip
Just got back from the Manx GP 09 and thought you might like to see an MT doing the
Ramsey Sprint.
As you can see it has a Triumph 885cc engine fitted to do sand racing. I have seen a picture of it on this site before. It was doing about 100mph in about 8 seconds.

Hi All,
This is my first post on the forum.
The MT 900 is my bike, I built it about two years ago.Mainly because I wanted my 500 to go a bit quicker and a mate had a triumph 885 motor for sale. It took about two weeks to get the motor in and running.I then had another couple of weeks adjusting it.Prior to fitting this motor in my MT I had nitrous on it wich worked well.The bike handles very well as I managed to fit the motor with out changing any frame geometry or the wheel base.As you can imagine, it is very quick, around 130mph.I had to improve the braking, this was done by fitting the MT350 rear wheel and disc set up and also yamaha xtz super tenere forks wheel discs and caliper.the yolks are off the triumph that the engine came off(amazingly the triumph has the same size stantions as the yam). I removed the yam stem and fitted the MT stem.I am really happy with the bike the only down side is the lack of ground clearance due to the taller engine sitting lower. I can live with this as i only ride on the road and mablethorpe beach with the sandracing club.(ace fun all MT owners should try it.http://xtreme-action-images.com/sandrace/index.html )I have been tempted to tart up the bike . It looks a bit of a shed but it is actually spot on mechanically, it sails through mots.I think I will leave it as it is or I might worry about the sand messing it up.It is also fitted with a flamer kit of my own design(fire from the exhaust at the push of a button)I would be happy to advise anyone considering a similar project.
It is not me riding it in the pictures it is my mate Martin, I was riding my other bike, "The General Lee" Turbo Suzuki.

Nice to hear from you - the bike's great, there's certainly nothing else like it!
It really does look a neat job, actually doesn't look out of place. Did you just turn the back wheel round the other way to line up with the chain?
It takes some of us that long to change the oil!!

Hi Jim. Great to hear from you, your amazing machine has been a topic a few times before! Many of us have put bigger engines in the 350, like the Aprilia Rotax 560, CCM 604 and 640's but yuo are the first Ive seen to put a non Rotax in. I think we all admire your 'engineuity'! Good man, thanks for posting, not much you can learn from us I expect but good to see you. Id love to have you bike at our next national meet, probably be the Stafford Bike Show next year.

jim looks unique and great the way it is, well done i,m sure you,ll inspire someone to try a different engine, eh vic with real flames as well although cat activated
