You can take a car or pick up with a trailer and bikes on it but it,s expensive as they go on length of the vehicle. I have just got back from a trip to spain/portugal and we left the pick up at plymouth with the bike trailer chained up on the back of the pick up and rode onto the ferry which was a great deal cheaper. The car parking in the secure foot passenger car park was £7.50 per day and all was well when we returned after the trip.

Cost us £48 for a 7m motorhome and a bike trailer with 2xMT Dover to Calais for the Ripoll trip.

I will go the same way with this trip and meander down the course to wherever we end up in Normandy.

wednesday night would be fine with me, and returning on sunday evening. :D
Le Harve to Bayeux is about 100 km which is a bearable distance if the weather is sh***y :o

Might be worth having a look at Honfleur. Really nice town. I would probably stay in the Aires there but there is camping locally.

Honfleur although a beautiful town is too far away from the D-Day beaches, the last thing you'll feel like doing is riding 30-60 miles and more every morning and evening getting to and from the campsite.
I like the Arromanches municipal campsite but I can guarantee that they will shut the town down for the 70th just like they did in the 65th so you won't get in there but there are campsites all along the coast but nightlife is difficult to find, the idea of Bayeux has a better chance of finding some bars and is pretty central to all the sites.

Well another large camp site I looked at Nr Bayeux was full so it's going to get busy.

Please can those interested have a look at the camp site or suggest others. Iv never camped abroad so advise welcome. I looked for somewhere close to town so we had some pubs and food near by.

Another thought.
If I took the car over I could bring my 8 man tent. Three bed rooms then the main room, so good for 4/5 People.

If some one else wanted to bring another large tent then me or Shiney could bring that over thus reducing bike luggage?
