I think it looks fantastic ! Brilliant job
It's really good to see someone doing such an individual and professional looking project - just sorry I can't be in NW to see her in the 'flesh'

Re: MT 500 Scrambler
Well done Steve, looks like a proper bike!!!!
Totally professional job and a credit to you.
The best part is it should go as well as it looks too.

Re: MT 500 Scrambler
Isn't that a CG125 tank? They seem to be popping up on all sorts of specials these days.

Re: MT 500 Scrambler
The tank is probably older than CG 125s have been around. As far as I can tell it's a 1975ish honda CB 250/550. It was blathered in thick black paint. When I stripped it back the original CB style stripes were under it all.
I am pleased to report that the bike performed perfectly in Wales. Started (almost) first kick every time. the 16t sprocket is a great improvement and I can still reach illegal speeds if needed.
Some of the lads were asking where I got the bits so here is an quick round up:
Tank - Newark Autojumble (£15)
Aluminium Mudguards - Newark Autojumble (manufactured by Wassell) (£65pr)
Round, flexy mounted indicators - JT's motorcycles in Swansea http://www.jtsmotorcycles.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;‎ (£17 per pair)
Headlight also from JT's. (£17)
Rear light -Rufforth Autojumble (£13)
Pressed number plate - Newark Autojumble (£28)
Mikuni Carb - Motocarb (£145)
Saddle cut & re-cover - Woosters Motorcycles of Leeds (£55)
Various bits, cables, gaskets etc - LMS (£92)
Aluminium Handlebars & Chrome mirrors - Zuma Bike Spares, Doncaster (£38)
Rack - an old one from a Triumph Thunderbird that my son left in the garage.
Back box - M.T. Spares (bike breakers - Doncaster) (£45)
Exhaust stainless pipework - Top Gear Performance, Doncaster (£90)
