:D

I dug out my finishers Medal last night from this event! I wasnt allowed a 'new' MT500 and all the cand hams had gone so i rode my YZ125 in the competition class! Achmer Trg Area if i remember rightly!

In the first pic you can see our 4 tonner from 3ADTR RCT (with the wide ramp) which i slept in the back of! The truck nect it with the 'eager beaver' loading ramps was from either 1 ADTR or 38 Sqn RCT but i distinctly remember the lads un loading their new Armstrongs getting stinck in the 'rungs' and falling off the ramp. The bike landed perfectly upside down on its bars and seat much to the amusment of all in the paddock!

The guy on bike No2 Is Bob Braithwaite REME!!

Happy Days!

This term 'crab' escapes me, have been in twenty odd years and it's certainly not a term used by the Aircraft Engineering massif. It must be something from when you ole geezers were in.

Originates from the uniform colour being similar to that of crab fat, hence the original term Crab Fat for the RAF

Shortened to Crab and the RAF affectionately being known as 'Crab Air'

I still have a 30 year old T-Shirt that says:

Dive Army
Fly Navy
Eat Crabs

But I guess I'm an old fart....

Thats what they look like, me and my mate never got one. At the end of the event they ran out and we were told they would send them to our unit. I have found another photo, I think there may be a few more so hope to post soon.

When you've been around as long as you have, it would seem like yesterday.
I'm sure I was still in shorts then.

Roy - Er, what colour is crab fat anyway? I've got that much uniform now with the two types of new stuff, it's all colours and stashed everywhere!
And can I call ya regarding medals and miniatures?
