Sounds like I should not have questioned whether it's a HD or Armstrong, Aquote said if it's HD then they have to cancel the insurance with Equity Red Star, as they will not insure any Harley. Wanted £250 to insure with another company using the frame number. They will give me a total refund, as they accept the error was theirs.

Spoke with Carole Nash, they will do it with 30 day cover note, but for £180, with Equity Red Star, although it would have to be called an Armstrong MT350.

I thought this would be the easy part, but looks like the best option is to pay up, get it registerd then canel that policy and take out a new one..........

Does the DVLA accept Armstrong 350 when the Army release form says Harley Davidson?

That is a load of bollox!!!! Every quote I got for the HD MT came back as being with Equity Redstar. Call bike team 0844 800 8354 it got mine TPFT with 0 no claims and 1 year of licence for £79.40, infact they quoted £81, I paid and they then refunded me £1.60 as the quote lowered as they finished the data input!!! That was for my 1st year.

I now have the MT350, Bandit 600 and Super Tenere all covered for £200 with them.

My documents say Armstrong MT350 BUT it is logged on their system that HD took over production on the later models thus carries the HD badging etc.

You get a complete set of policy data for each bike, and can have up to 4 bikes on one policy.

I have to say sorry now I have just realised you havent got it registered yet.
SO here is how I did it.
Insure with carol nash pay on switch/solo type card (DO NOT USE ANY CREDIT CARD TO BUY ANY INSURANCE, they keep your details and auto renew UNLESS you call them to cancel on the cancel phone number.. I know because I fell foul of this with Bennetts and I have a friend who works at Nash and have been told they have adopted the same poilcy so customers dont run out of insurance by mistake!!)
Get the cover note for the frame number (not many will do it off the frame, Bike team wouldnt, Nash also said it would have been £60 cheeper if it had the Reg number already!!)
Get your MOT go to DVLA with your docs, get Tax, go get reg made, call Nash, cancel the policy (£30 charge) call bike team and get it for a lot less!!!!

Ive had my HD insured with them for years unless of course they mean Equity wont insure an HD!

I must have got the people at AQuote that don't know about bikes. The final guy insisted that Equity Red Star had cancelled the policy as they did not insure any HDs and never heard of the MT350, and could only find one other underwriter at £250 for unregistered bike. :x :x

Enough of venting my fustrations, good news. :)

Called Adrian Flux and got the insurance sorted within 10 minutes (was £150, but reasonable benefits), with a Certificate by the end of the day, BUT.....

They got the frame numebr wrong.

Just called, and Emma corrected it and emailed the new cert. Off to the DVLA at Northampton this afternoon :D :D

So if your looking for insurance for an unregisterd HD MT350, I can recommend speaking with Adrian Flux (0844 8888 908 for Bike section). I'll be posting info on the Insurance thread.

All in the hands of the DVLA now. Got to the office with MOT, Insurance cert, MOD doc, passport, bills, cheque book, got them checked over, but was told they could not process at the time, and should be done in the next 3 working days, and I'll get them back in the post.

I was hoping to come away with the reg, but they may have been trying to avoid holding up the queue that extended to the door, on a Friday afternoon.

So another week to wait........

Ahh I should have said the best time to go is 30mins before closing, all the dealers have gone back to the showrooms by then. They helped me fill in the forms and handed it back to me all done :)

Well, on to the next stage, the Bike has been out for a run, just a short one, as it's the first time it's been on the road since last year, and I've no idea when it was last used in the Army.

Everything functions, but now I've got the registration out of the way, I need to give it a service and repaint it.
