Evening all, made a start on putting Simons lump back together and giving it a lick of paint..

Image

Cases cleaned and new main bearing and crank fitted..

Image

Then the gearbox and selectors..

Image

Then the oil pump..

Image

Then the left hand case gets the heat treatment and new main bearing..

Image

Then the bottom end gets a coat of heat resistant satin black paint..

Image

That'll do for one night!

You don't need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

If it is a 640 you'll need to get in touch with Omega pistons who made the rings and piston for the 640 conversion, Pete got all three rings for about £28 standard price  which is a bit of a bargain

Hope that helps

If I'd known that before changing my rings I could have looked into oversizing my 560. I wonder how much a piston kit would cost.

Oh well, something for the next owner to look at as hopefully this'll be right for the next 70,000 miles. :D

I think the piston is approx £100 but you'd have to add the rebore and nicasil relining to that

Did that include reboring to 100mm as well Pete or just the relining?

Pete's was already a 640 but they have to bore the old Nikasil/Nicasil out before a recoat anyway, so I can't imagine boring to size would add too much if anything (assuming the barrel is suitable and has enough meat on it also)
