If we take a look at the butt on the two weapons in discussion I think its clear that it is not an SLR.

God Damn Yank posing on one of 'our' Harleys!! DROPS in back ground = Iraq second time round! Only Armstrongs first time around although the DROPS had just come into service.. Newer American desert uniform too..
