Gary, It better get dirty. Not putting all this effort in for it to end up never being used. I even might let you have a go when I see you next time..... If I have got it right..

What about mother-in-laws tongue? Would work well but might be a little too corrosive!

Well today have mostly been cock ups,
First we put petrol into the tank to wash it out...

A jet of petrol shot out of the tank down by the welded seam. A pin holt, looks like the tank will need touching up after this is sorted.

My lovely tank

The hated pin hole
So my other bike became a blood/tank donor.
Put in 2.5lrs of halfords finest.
Turned the motor over, but no oil return. So took pipes off to make sure oil was getting to the pump and drained some oil out of the sump.
All sorted oil returning.
Fitted tank and fired it up. A couple of turns fuel got through and she started.
Tickover sorted, sweet as a nut. Then we saw the oil slick. All my new shiney Halfords finest all over the garage floor.

I have also checked my reg/rec. It is kicking out 15.6v looks like I need a new one....

Well I took my tank into collage to get a master class on welding tissue paper. A pin hole became a pot hole. Thanks to Mr Booth the welding guru for saving my tank..

Shame about saving the new paint work...

Time to get painting... again..

I welded a petrol tank ,washed it out a few times with hot water and fairy liquid ,when i touched it with the mig it sounded like a bad jet engine and a bang ,but it was ok after

POR 15 the inside now then Russ to give the rest of the tank a fighting chance.. Ive done Mels Vinduro tank with a fantastic result..

I stuffed an air line in it and blew it through for a couple of times for about 20mins each time. No pops or bangs thankfully..

Gary, I should have used POR15 before I had it painted. When Gronk did his there was a whole lota shaking going on..

All ready for priming now, just need to go and buy some...
