MT Pockets 560 Gearbox Rebuild

Post by Minter » Fri Jan 18, 2013 9:32 pm

Ady has battled throught the snow so we can pull apart his Aprillia 560... It was a bit of bargain off ebay but the final drive sprocket had been welded on! What lay inside then we wondered!

Well here it is in the flesh, again the differences within this engine are quite a bit compared to our MT varient..

Image

Image

Clutch basket looks the same from the outside but has springs built in the basket, probably to make a smoother action?..
Note the rev counter drive on the kickstart shaft..

Image

Even this gear has the springs within..

Image

Cylinder in V good condition, few scores on piston but still perfect fit in Cylinder, rings just inside tolernce but going to replace them all anyway..
Flywheel has a huge extra weight on it..

Image

Swap all gears on centre shaft to new shaft on the right.. Simples!! :?

All ready to piece back the 2 halves now..

If you take the flywheel off can you measure the weight for width, diameter and pcd of mounting bolts as when I was telling Alex(throb) about them he seemed quite interested in trying one to see if it reduced his stalling/lumpy tick over issues and he may want to knock one up :)

No probs Steve, its got to come off any way as it pulled the crank out the RH case by 2mm when seperating the cases, so it'll have to be pulled back in to re seat on the mains..

Gary, is there a Nicasil bore on this motor or liner?

Ta, Mark.

You don't need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

Im sure all the specs were available to the MOD but they probably slimmed it down a little :-)
