Dave Vtrsp1Da0 Clutch & Kickstart Fix

Post by Minter » Sat Dec 29, 2012 7:49 pm

Met Dave at the trial near Newbury today and collected the motor (And a box of bits!) from a bargain Dave recently aquired! With the bits is the Army inspection report from 2002! I reckon its been pulled apart by some squaddie who then did not have a clue how to fix it and hastily chucked it back together! Sent it to the Wksp and thats how it stayed until it was demobbed and how its been for 10 years!

Not any more though! All is well despite the look of the clutch case in the first pic! Only needs a shim for the starter gear and a kick start return spring - which was probably the original reason to pull it apart as it is bent and damaged beyond repair!

Should have this one up and running on the test bed soon!

At least the clutch was still all there! And its like new still!

Soon as the 10 years worth of dust has been cleaned out and its put back together it'll be like new!

New parts for Daves motor arrived yesterday. This afternoon i put it all back together and fired it up on the test rig! It runs like a dream!

Image

Sump was clean as a whistle.. new gasket and o ring and put back on..

Image

New kick start spring installed.

Image

Clutch basket had very minor grooves, I still filed them flat..

Image

Clutch all back together, loctighted, torqued and tabbed

Unfortunately you cant hear it! Its ticking over perfectly, first time in 10 years! a bit of smoke from exhausts where oily hand bolted it on!

A new timing pulley kit and it would look almost new. There is no play in them just a bit of rust..

All Done Dave and ready for collection.. I'll leave it on the test bed so you can hear it when you come to collect..
