Tim's Seized 500 Engine Rebuild
Tim's Seized 500 Engine Rebuild
Here starts an intersting little project!.. Some of you may remember Tim's thread about his seized 500 and jumping up and down on the kickstart with 17 stone to no avail!
Heres why!........
The head came off fairly straight forward, just one head nut was heavily rusted and rounded. Nut spliter and a chisel sorted that one!
Tim had kindley filled the cylinder with oil weeks ago and with my breaker bar on the flywheel unseized the piston..
The cylinder was another challenge as the dowels that mount cylinder and head were well rusted to the cylinder..
Eventially with much heat, pry bars and cups of tea the cylinder was free!
New piston, maybe oversize and see what can be done with the cylinder, some wet and dry and honing may sort it.

Patience and cups of tea pay off in the end!
I hope there is no patent on your transit frame Pete! I'm going to copy it for shipping engines and one will form the base of my engine test rig!

Re: Tim's Seized 500 Engine Rebuild
It was all I had about. I would have put bits up the front with a brace across the top (like the back) they would have made handles.
Could do with a drip tray in the base then it could all be wraped in cling film for shipping.
