It was probably a bit daft of me to mention that, I know the area well there are some deep ruts probably a bit slimy at this time of year but also some hills where water doesn't gather, I have distanzias on and I'm sure I will be able to make it to the meet, I think it will be fun, if your coming from some distance we could also visit the local scenery, (road ish) the downs, beacon, chiltern hills, if that's ok with everyone?

I will be up for this! But I also have distanzias, and havent been green laning before so I expect to struggle.
Should I remove my natty jerrycan custom panniers to save weight, or might they come in handy as engine bars / flotation devices?

To save weight YES most certainly. To avoid damaging your panniers should you be unfortunate enough to lay the bike on its side somewhere YES most certainly. To squeeze through somewhere/avoid obstacles YES most certainlyShould I remove my natty jerrycan custom panniers to save weight

Re: South Beds bimble
Without being a kill joy, if you have all got Disty's on I would not venture on to the lanes, it has been far too wet, disty's are rubbish off road. You will end up either hurting yourself's or hand balling your bikes and that makes for a poor day out.

Also, check the weather forecast. Current prediction is very heavy rain for most of Sunday

Forcaste is for rain on Saturday and Sunday in this area.Thumper wrote:Also, check the weather forecast. Current prediction is very heavy rain for most of Sunday
I've not ridden these trails, but have walks some of them and it certainly slippy on some of them. Definately not "distanzia" tracks, unless ther is a major drought.
There are some nice stretches of tarmac in this area, around Dunstable Downs, Whipsnade and Woburn (but avod the cats !! ). I'm happy to meet up and have a look at the edges and see what the ground looks like as I'm not yet familiar with the routes.
