Check tool box rubbers are good!, or better still gaffer/cable tie the lid on. Tools no use under water, in a rut 3 miles away.

I posted this on the original thread
Quote:
need to fettle bike now

But what to do/check ?

In addition to the normal stuff.

Are your rim tapes, Inner-tubes (Heavy duty or Ultra HD if going off road), tyres all in good nick?
I've been recce-ing the Easy (English) route with Distanzias, so I know it can be done using them, but something more nobbly would give you more grip. More grip WILL be needed for Easy (Welsh) and beyond.

Waterprooofing- kill switches , HT leads- ESSENTIAL , even if we don't get any traditional Welsh liquid sunshine, we'll find water for sure.

Brake pads/linings- make sure you've got some decent life left in them.

Battery levels - if using traditional acid battery, check your levels before you set off (and when you get back)

Give your bike a decent shakedown run before you come. Breaking down on the way to the event could spoil your week-end. If you plan to trailer your bike there, breaking down after 10 miles with brakes binding won't win you any friends.

Make sure you can find your favourite bag that you can strap it on, you'll need to take some water to drink when you're out.

I shan't mention checking tool-box cap rubbers need to be in good nick.

I would urge anyone who doesn't know the status of their tubes and rim tapes to replace them before the week-end. Old tubes that cope with road riding with no problem may fail with the rigours of off road. Carry a spare as well.
