First trail will be the wayfarer. This is a pretty epic ride.
That depends on your definition of epic. Last year one of my mates did the route on an MT350. He's a good road rider but it was his first time off-road, the bike was a little too tall for him and he rode the whole route with just one dismount. He was coming up to his 75th birthday. Enjoyable, longer than most, some history to the route but epic ??

I meant from a scenary perspective. It's a stunning ride, difficult enough to be fun but not to difficult to be knackering.

What a terrific trip!! Managed 2 days of solid riding. We stayed between Llangollen and Corwen in the Berwyn Arms. I have to give them a plug as they were exceptional. Nothing was to much trouble even for a large group of 6 adults and two children. They allowed us to put our 'bunkers' and bikes around the back in the secure yard which has CCTV as well. We were able to use the hose etc for rinse down and on the last day they let us keep the rooms until we had finished so we could shower. Great breakfast and food and really reasonable price.

Riding wise we did the Wayfarer loop for warm up and then headed out to Bala for lunch, afternoon we went up and did the Betswy-Coed lanes and the usual stuff we do on the MT weekend, Sarn Helen etc.

Next day we met up with a couple of local guys who took us on the trails around LLangollen of which there is an abundance. The two guys we were riding with were very talented riders but they bore with us and showed us some very challenging lanes one of which was a climb up the side of a mountain on loose shale that was over 45 degrees up. The only way up was to keep it in second gear and just keep the power on. Another was a winding narrow lane that climbed upwards with loose soil and rock over solid slate.

The wayfarer was as I remembered it an epic route capturing some of the best scenery that Wales has to offer. Quite a few very wet sections including a couple that were considerable deeper that we expected!!! The 'car wash' river crossing at Corwen was also a little deeper than expected!!

Gaz managed to kill the rear wheel on his MT, the spoked are now so loose the rim moves independently of the bike!!

I will post a couple of pictures when I get chance. But as ever a great weekend made better by the hospitality of the Welsh.
