Armstrong rebuild continues......

After too many weeks off the project, i got my arse into gear again this week.(think my estimate of on the road for Easter was a bit optimistic, sorry Eric

The bearings for my motor are due to arrive tomorrow,managed to get the whole lot (replacing everything), for £90

I had a go at seperating my spare crank, had to make a jig to hold it whilst giving it 15 tonnes .The side shims on my original crank were missing and you can see from the pic that the roller cage has took a hammering.The other crank i intend to use will be setup by a local bike Engineer for a very reasonable £30.

The bore was stained but came up fine with a glaze buster.Luckily there is no wear on the bore or rings but i got another piston as the small end was battered.

The cases took best part of a week to strip ready for paint (i don't like using shotblast on engine parts so it came down to chemical stripper,rotary wire brush,scraper and loads of patience















pleased with home made headlamp guard - looks the part!



Can't figure out how the sidestand spring fits - surely this is miles too short ?? - the furry stuff is the dog helping me out btw

That spring looks like an MT350 centre stand spring. I'm sure someone will advise shortly. I'll have a search , there have been pictures posted showing MT500 sidestands left and right

how about polished billet machined cases


The spring should be the same as the centre stand ones like the one you've got but with a long straight piece between the coil and hook.

NICE!!

Yeah, it's a 350 centre stand spring that i bought (was told it would fit).What you said makes sense , as Eric said, hopefully i can find a pic to help me out
