MT350's in West Africa
MT350's in West Africa
Here's my pair of 350's that the cocoa/coffee exporter I work for bought a couple of weeks ago. Got a few niggles to sort out, with a very limited tool kit! Going to have to stock up when I go home in a month or so. Have had a spin on one and it's fantastic! The Sierra Leone army was given some by the British during the war apparently, so there are a couple floating about, have seen one anyway. The guy who imported them got them sprayed red as there was an arms embargo in place, that has since been lifted.

As you can see I've got a slight oil leak problem with this one, think it's the bottom cam shaft pulley seal.

View out of my compound, amazing roads for the MT, can't wait to give them a proper go up into the bush, some awful (read fun) roads to get stuck into.

Ha, maybe a bit of both! Very safe country though, never had any problems at all and been here for 8 months or so now.ERNIE wrote:Bikes look well

I spent a few weeks working out there ( Freetown & Pepel ) & some of the main roads are better than our green lanes. I had a ball going from Pepeal back lungi airport in a pick up truck we ended up racing another pick up had a good laugh. At one point there's no road so you have to borrow the train line for about 2k's. I'm glad I went put's your life into prospective .

@worz, nice one! I live much further east than Freetown so haven't spent that much time down there, good country though isn't it!

Re: MT350's in West Africa
Hi I was in Liberia over the last 2 years with Lifewater Liberia which is a canadian N.G.O. drilling for water in comunnities, schools, health centres,up to 200 miles from monrovia, they needed 2 4X4 trucks and 2 motorbikes for the team to get to innaccesible areas to evaluate the hand dug wells so we could install afridev pumps on top.I was project drilling engineer on this so returned to UK ,and purchased 2 bedford 4x4 trucks, and 3 mt350s to ship out to liberia, 2 to be used 1 for spares,it took 14 weeks to get export clearance for them through withams who i purchased the lot from.but in the meantime a crosseyed member of the lifewaterliberia board decided to buy 2 chinese chicken chasers, so i was left with 3 mt350s, which on my return restored them and sold them on hopefully to happy members,Pips had 2 as his 1st one was stolen and his 2nd was fired up a month ago,so i hope this explains my involvement with MTRC, Regards Hugh.
