Ireland Meet August 2012

Post by StorminNorm » Mon Dec 05, 2011 7:01 pm

Hi All,

We have set the dates for the 2012 Irish meet for the weekend starting Friday 24th August 2012. I know it's only a week before the Wales meet but it's also the UK Bank Holiday Weekend so it might give some of the UK members a chance to make a long weekend of it.

The venue will be the same as last year, based in the village of Laragh in the Wicklow Mountains and will be an on road event.

There is a very good hostel and a reasonably priced hotel here and is less than an hours ride from the ferry to Wales. There is also a good camp site about 5 miles away, but I am trying to find some suitable area a bit closer. The format this year was, meet and have a few drinks on the Friday night with the main rideout on Saturday. It is expected that next years event will follow the same pattern but we may have another rideout on the Sunday or even the Monday. Sidecarwillie and M T Glass are working on the routes so there will be plenty of suggested routes for those who want to explore.

There is no cost for this meet, it is simply turn up and have some fun. Advance booking of the accommodation is advisable though, and putting your name on here would be appreciated so we know how many to expect.

Hi. Count me in ! I've reserved two camping places at the site in your link.Loose plan will be to travel from the welsh meet ( setting off from West Yorkshire to get there ). Firstly, my girlfriend might ride out with me on her scoot. I dont expect her to join us on the MT ride out but is it ok for her to come to the Friday drink and then chill out on saturday whilst we all ride.

if I go to the welsh meet, what travel time am I looking at from that venue to your meet ?

Hi Paul,

Glad to hear you are planning to join us. Your girlfriend will be more than welcome to join us on the rideout. However our meet is the weekend before the North Wales meet. I am not an expert on the distances but you would be looking at about 1 hour from the meet to the ferry then about 2 hours on the fast ferry to Holyhead and about 1 hour to the Wales meet. If you have any other questions just put the on here and I'm sure someone can answer them. Cheers.
