Well its a pic of a triangle with a number 34 stamped onto the frame.
I have no idea what it is, and was hoping someone on here could shed some light on it?

I have had the bike about 3 years and did the Red Kite rally on it a few years ago.
I use it every day to get to and from work and also do trips about when i can.

You said early but its made in May 1986 according to the V5.....

On Photobucket, if you hover on the photo then select the IMG Code, the bottom set of text below the image, then paste this into the post, the photo will appear instead of the link.

Does the writing on the rim say something like DID made in Japan? only they look like Yamaha rims that were fitted on XT's.
Are you riding around the great Metropolis called Cheltnham or in the surrounding villages?
With all these MT's appearing out of the woodwork around here we'll soon have a south midlands chapter :D

Looks like a 350 hub and disc to me...

Nice looking bike by the way!

bike has a different contract number to standard MT500, these were 23B/1680
Widges bike is 22P (or 22B) 1680.
Also has what looks like a low engine number
Also the Armstrong side panels are held on by what looks like screws

Ok first i did try to get a 350 wheel in the front as a spare (for knobbly tyres) but the disk etc did not fit at all???

The Side panels have 3 lugs on them ( i will take them off and photo them if this helps),

The whole bike is white inside and out :( , no green .

The V5 states it was May 1986 , and it is colour White/ Black.

I will get some photos of the oil in the frame allen key thingy as well tommorrow...

Obviously the plastic will be inpregnated with the colour, try scratching the inside of the panel to see if the colour runs all throughor does it just remove the top paint coat ? That will certainly confirm it was not made as a general military bike !
