500e resto-project progress so far....

Post by ourkid » Fri Mar 02, 2012 5:15 pm

This was one of Jim Burns old bikes.I bought it just after Christmas as a slightly rusty (but basically sound and original) bike, with a few odds and ends missing but a cracking intoduction to MT's and a route to getting involved in this fantastic forum 8-)

This is how it arrived at my house, along with a bag of bits (some kindly donated from Bunkers stash :D

Didn't realise the pics were so large...

I painted everything up, then partly stripped again today to touch up some areas of paint

Really happy with the electric spraygun.I stripped the plastics and decided to leave then "virgin" as i like the authentic aged look. I also re-stencilled over the faded numbers on the mudguard.
All bearings and seals throughout have been replaced...

The paint is actually satin finish and does fade after a week or so.It takes about a week to harden fully but is then rock hard!!
