Are you tough enough to ride 1000 miles for the Poppy Appeal

I have done this the last 3 years, first 2 on a GSX1400 and the last one on Z1000SX. I don't have an MT yet, but im pretty sure I would not be using it, stick to the ZSX for this.

There were about 200 riders last year, split over the 4 routes, I have done both the Northern routes and South Clock wise, not once have we had decent weather, pixxed down for at least 500 miles last year and then all the way home from Leeds, yes I do the 1,000 and then ride another 190 miles home.

But it is a great feeling when you arrive back at Squires Cafe in Leeds, i did it in just over 17hrs 38mins last year was 3rd to finish, although it is most definitely not a race, it really is just about finishing.

It is a brilliant way to raise money for a great cause, has anyone else on here done it or planning to this year ?

Be good to do this as a group of MTs ...... average speed needs to be over 50 mph to realistically complete it within 24 hours (including any breaks, fuel fill ups, etc) Could ask organisers whether they have a category for a group of same bikes!!! they have prizes for youngest and smallest CC bike.

On their web page they say around an average of 41mph will complete the route and haven't yet had a single cylinder do it.

What route. Im Doing south anti clockwise.

That's a good route as it means your down SW around lunch time Midday so a nice cruise in the sun.

No, not able to do it at the moment probably never do it again, don't know but I would also be interested in a group ride. We can speak to Paddy (the organiser) and see if there is a prize for most number of same(?) bikes completed together. I'm sure we could arrange repair and recovery (if necessary) along the full route as well.
