Glad to hear you made it home. I arrived back at 10:30pm
For those that don't carry one, get yourself a spare chain link, does not take up much space and another roadside repair. But make sure it's the right type, the non-O-Ring type does not fit O-Ring chains.
Thanks for the help on the chain, at least it got me to a pleasant cafe, with a very nice host until the lorry arrived. Unfortunately he only took me as far as Oswerstry Services, then had a 3 hour wait for the leg home. I owe you a spare link. I don't know how far it would have got without the plate, but to have another failure at 50MPH somewhere in the countryside was not worth the risk.
A really good ride there on Friday, reasonable on Saturday, missed storms in the mountains. Managed to keep hold of the tent Saturday night (although a few got trashed and others vanished (even with kit in), but everything got covered in mud.
Ride home with MTBandit, Jooles and diggerdog went well, until part of the chain decided to go AWOL.

As you say, "sods law". At least all worked out OK. Still, it all adds to the adventure. If you are travelling along the A5 near Llangollen, I can recommend a cup of tea at the Lime Kilns cafe, Froncysyllte, Llangollen LL20 7RA, UK, I was well looked after until the truck arrived.Old Diggerdogk9 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2018 4:10 pmDerrick that's what you call sods law I had 2 spare in my tool box!
I've not had a chance to check if the flailing chain did an damage other than remove a bit of plastic from the chain guard. I'll be adding a spare split link to the bag with the clutch cable and cam belt.

Re: Dragon 2018
Thanks to everyone that came to the Dragon,
I am truly sorry that I didn’t get the chance to see you all but I was kept extremely busy,
Especially Saturday night Sunday morning 5 cases of hypothermia, 1 off in an ambulance
50 ish trashed tents and some very pissed people. We found 20 Rallyists on the Saturday night passed out pissed with no shelter
I think you all earned your badges, I saw one go for £77 on eBay
This years was truly a man test....
