Evening all...
Mel has given me his 500e engine to rebuild out of an old MZ.. On the outside it looks like its been around the block a bit, paint is peeling off all the casings - must have got pretty hot in the past i expect.
On the inside though its as clean as a whistle, it must have been regularly serviced..
New rings, clutch and sprag spring and it'll be as good as new i reckon.. How many miles/km had it done Mel?

61,000 kms, I've got the bike here, it's back on the road now with a six speed Aprilia engine in it, looking sweet.
Photos as soon as I've finished the mods.

This evening it was Mels Cylinder head to get some TLC!
First job remove all dowels and hoses...
Exhaust studs all in good order..
Only part of the engine to show any signs of wear, exhaust valve seats well glazed inlets like new! Valve stem oil seals a bit brittle amd lots of flakey paint, i think it did a lot of slow stuck in traffic sort of commuting getting very hot in the past - soon be better than new though!!
Just like a haynes manual! Well almost!.....

I think it'll be going slower and hotter in the future.
