Chequer plate panniers project to fit in rear racks...

They look brilliant, well done. A tip for cutting ally chequer plate in future is use a jigsaw not an angle grinder!

The angle grinder worked ok with a very thin stainless steel cutting blade in. Was going to use a jigsaw but thought it would be too vicious and would leave a rough edge.

Best way I found so far is with a bandsaw, the jigsaw blades heat up, melt the ally filings and clog up, the bandsaw blade is so long it doesn't retain as much heat.
Better still use a guillotine if you can find one.

I used to mark out all my stuff and take it to a local machine shop.
I used to own a bench mounted guillotine, like a huge pair of shears, but sold it at a car boot.

The multi material saws are quite good on ally plate and have come right down in price ( they look very much like a regular circular saw but slightly smaller ) also reciprocating saws work well but it can be hard to keep a straight line.

any one else thinking along these lines i have a quantity of 3mm ally cheq plate,12"wide by 10 foot long,£15 a length,can also offer tig welding service,ally,stainless and mildsteel,i am in suffolk.
