Hi all

i would like to share the 500 rebuild project with you story so far strip, shot blast and re powder coat the frame, rebuild top end of engine, and repaint. strip numerous layers of paint from plastics and spray with krylon. fit 350 front end disc brake. i am now in a position to start the rebuild. other than the front end i intend to keep it as original as possible. the rear wheel will be rebuilt (courtesy of sfx wheels), so far it has taken 8 months but can honestly say i have enjoyed every minute of the project so far. i would like to thank all on the forum for the knowledge that i have attained as it wouldn't of been possible without your info.

Thanks for the link to Redditch Shotblasting. Phoned and spoke to Dave (the ex 500 owner) today. Quoted me a very fair price to blast & powder in Olive Drab, Dropping the bits off with them in about a fortnight......... can`t wait :D

nice one stu i was over there today dropping my pannier racks in to him, and was discussing the header pipes and centre section he said that they can shot and repaint with a high temp paint for a fair price too worth considering as one guy who beach races still has the original paint on from 10 + yrs ago. possibly a better option than going stainless or buying spray cans that flake or peel.
