Now where did I put that???

Post by rustybike » Sun Apr 22, 2012 10:02 pm

I thought it's about time I did my rebuild...

This is the first MT I bought from Withams. It has been run every day for 18 months. It is getting abit tatty. :(

Image
The poor thing has stood for about a month now and it was in danger of becoming an organ donor for my other bike. So it's time to show it some attention. ;)

The strip down began on Sat afternoon. :D
This is what it looks like after 2 days with a few tools and some swearing...

You don't need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

After watching Gronk rub down his bike by hand, I thought "Bugger that". So I bought a spot blaster from Aldi. Today I built this... :D

I just need to add a perspex lid. Then its blasting time....
Just 1 question, does anyone know what blasting media should I use to shift paint and rust?

It's normally aluminium oxide they supply with them.

In the past I,ve used kiln dried sand which is nice and fine but it can be a bit harsh so beware. You can get it from B&Q, its not too expensive.
I have used it through an attachment for a Kew jetwash so there wasnt any dust.
