I have been thinking of doing something similar with the air box for a while now.
A quickly detachable ally box along the same lines.
Whatever i do, Alex has already done it. :D

I didn't get a chance to much on the bike this weekend because of the Dragon.
I did manage to get out to the workshop last night though and made the rear mounting bracket for the airbox:
