project bandit
Re: project bandit
ok, so with georges and gary's help i've conquered the exhaust and rear pannier saga , , looking forward to diggerdog's side bags
thanks to roey for the mid and front pipes , had to work on them a bit to get them up to scratch, but worth it nevertheless,
still can't make up my mind about the trouser guard, might have it shiny stainless against the black,
next mission to mount the rear sprocket and new brakes, whilst sending my wheels away to be respoked (again thanks gary in advance ) still haven't changed the rear brake stop yet gary, but it's on my mind to do it

Re: project bandit
Had a day off today, so i've been in the garage doing a bit more,, progress is slow but positive,
rewired the two indicators on the rear,
restored the old knackered panier heat shield with wet and dry,
and completed the rear brake assembly, still need to sort out the brake light switch tho
working on the front forks at the mo, i've been very lucky with them, i've changed the two fork cap bodies, but only coz there ally and have deteriorated with age, don't look too pretty any more,
and oil change,, phew
next major mission is wheels off to be respoked, whilst still collecting all the other bits i need

Re: project bandit
well here i am again,
slow progress being made , like a snail creeping towards the finish line,
finished rewiring and mounted all the front indicators now, i don't know if this is a common problem , but i had the indicator pods turning around on the stem arms, bought a few different 2nd hand ones and they were all but a few the same,
i solved it by cutting a slot in the threaded part of the stem with my dremmel so i could hold it with a screwdriver,
used a 30mm o ring to sit over the arm and make contact with the plastic part of the stem missing the metal threaded flange,
then a repair washer drilled out to fit over the thread, hold screwdriver in the cut slot do up nut , squashing the o ring and making it all rigid again, really simple and effective
charged up a battery and hey presto all my electrics seem to work ok, result
just waiting on my wheels being respoked now and a few other bits
i still go a way to go yet , but i can see the finish line now i think
