A nice pair of pukka clappers, not a rivet out of place. Easy to imagine that the little oneâ€™s more for your packhorse than your horseless carriage, but the big four-spanner provides luxury and practicality in equal measure.

So I trundled about for an hour in perfect December sunshine til I got to the ford and bridge at Bosent (see Bridge Clubs passim) when it started to rain, just. On the other hand the West Looe River was in flood technically and the road clearly was awash. Even I canâ€™t pretend that the bridge had broken up.
