And the text that went with it was

1992 MT500. This bike, designed for military use, has a single cylinder 4-stroke Rotax engine with displacement of 482cc and a 5-speed transmission. It also features electric start, chain drive and high tensile aluminum rims with on/off road tires. The body work is plastic, and the features include swiveling mirrors and directionals, high front fender, long front suspension and skid plate. It has 9.5 inches of ground clearance, weights 370 pounds and produces 26 horsepower.

The MT-500 was originally built by a British company under the Armstrong name. It is unknown how many were produced. H-D purchased the company in 1987 to produce military motorcycles. While standard MTs are green, this one is painted white because it was used by British police. It has the police logo on the windshield, a first aid kit and red and blue pursuit lights.

This photo was taken in a storage facility prior to the move to the Museum. This bike is currently in storage on the third floor of the A building.

It just popped up in a search here.

That is clearly a green one that has been painted white and is one of the HD MT500's

It also has red and blue lights which is an American thing.

I would suggest this is a US Police Bike, possibly military police rather than a genuine British Police bike.

Whilst I think they were trialled by a couple of Forces, they would have been the production white bikes and were, as far as I know, never adopted for use and they would have been Armstrong MT500s from the 80's.

Sorry HayChalboded,
whilst a very interesting find, this is clearly a work of fiction on the part of the museum

for a more accurate story about police bikes see
