What, the rifle or the bike? :P

We rode the XR250s with those tanks at the Royal Tournament in '98, one guy made the mistake of filling the tank and nearly 'endo-ed' off the jump into the arena. They were handy little bikes tho, a great overlander with that range. The 400s were about too.

The diesel KLR took about two miles of tow-starting and weighed about 250kgs, as far as I know all plans for diesel bikes have been stopped in favour of quad bikes because of the extra weight carrying capacity and less likelyhood of rider injury.

George Yeomans 0121 453 8886 is advertising a few 400's and 250's in OBM this month. Used to have a 250 and it was a great bike. good range and good mpg too ... but the worlds most inaccessible spark plug

There was a stand at the bike show this year with diesel bikes - 80mph (ish), and about 100 mpg...I had details, will look for them and post if I can find.

Kev.

The bike pictured is the diesel bike currently in use by the US Marines. Marines seem to enjoy riding them.

A few years back I got speaking to a guy at the War and Peace show who had had a go on one. He main interest was in diesel bikes and he actually managed to buy one of the prototypes.

It looks like the UK army has stopped using bikes. Shame that a great engine developed in the UK will not be used here.
