That's a standard yank HDMT500E, there's other pictures of them on here somewhere.

Right then there's a challenge, where to find some of those!!!!!
anyone got any ideas, seen any, got any, know of a man in a pub selling any????

That's a standard yank HDMT500E,
no its not, the standard ones dont have the pillion bars yet alone the second doughnuts. The one we saw like that was:
Harley MT of the Kenyan Air Force, check rear mounted panniers aswell as front, handlebar gun rack and is that a left handed extended exhaust? (US HD MTs have an extended silencer)..

Can't be sure it was Kenyan, the Staff sarge in the photo is from the USAF, and McChord Air Force Base is in Washington, so there's only a small chance of it being a Kenyan bike.

Though you're right, it isn't standard (I got a bit confused, it's not too hard to confuse me at the moment :roll: )

If the USAF knows anything about the MT500, as they used very very few.

Yes the USAF did order MT500s with both front and rear plastic Panniers.
The USAF also ordred them painted Black.
As they used them on-deck of Aircraft Carriers to past information and orders on-board ship.
The first MT I ever saw was on-board the USS Intriped in NYC harbor.
The official Harley-Davidson MT500 Specification Sheets both early and later Spec. Sheets show the MT with both Pannier sets mounted. They also show the Black Out Light Kit and the RamHorn Handlebars.

US Special Forces used the green machine, dressed like your MT350. Again very very few.
US Forces never used the MT350.

Another tid bit of MT500 Information.
What did they Cost????
Don't know about the UK Contracts?
But....Harley-Davidson sold the MT500 to the US Forces for $1,000. Each.
That's right folks, they lost money on everyone they sold to the US Forces.

Nick at force was telling me the official number from Harley on MT500e's produced was 450. I might be moving to Canada next year and was hoping to pick one up, so he mentioned he had been out and bought up all the spares HD had left.

In December another MT Rider here in the USA, was placing an order with Harley-Davidson through his dealer. HD stated this is the last month for orders, that all the additional MT spares were being sold.

The deal with ordering from the HD York factory was: fax your list of needs, they check stock, tell the HD Dealer what they have off your list, HD Dealer Marks Up the price and tells you the amount of pain.

So I got my Santa's Shopping List together, as if my house was full of gold.
HD tells the Dealer what's in stock, they tell you the price then you order.
Knowing this was the last time around, and we have 4 MT's the list was long.
Harley-Davidson Dealer Prices are dear, to say the least.
I got quite a few spares that we needed for our Project MT, but not everything on the list too much money.
So I ask the girl in the HD York Factory, where will I need to go to get others on my list later?
SHE Said, everything is being packed up that my order was the last order.
If I needed anything additional I would need to contact KLMotorsports in the Uk for parts.
Just stating what I've been told from the Harley-Davidson York Factory were all the MT's were made.

450 MT500e Total Production, sounds about right.
But not many went to Canada, that number would include the USMT500e sold through the HD Dealers in 1999 and 2000. Problem is most are in HD Dealer collections and motorcycle museums.
When I travel and stop at a US HD Dealer with an MT500 on the trailer; the wrenchs in the back come out to see the bike. Because many have never seen one, they learned about them in their HD Training.
Yes the MT is that rare here in the USA.

So when you leave the UK for Canada pack all your gold.
USMT500e sell for about the price of 3 MT350s in the UK.

But, You got the gold I can probably set you up with a MT.
I know of about 20 riders here in the US, and we have 4.

There was a guy in Canada selling and servicing the MT's, but he went out of business.
