MT500 Just purchased - Anyone know this bike?

Post by chauffeurmark » Fri Dec 11, 2015 6:28 pm

Just collected my MT500 today. History I know so far: Armstrong, Bolton, England Contract 23B/1680 Engine No.212518 Frame No. M.T. 001974
Into service 27.8.87 on Reg. No. 60KG84 Disposed of by MOD Aston Down on 6.12.93 & sold by ADT Auctions for ÂŁ975 on 14.12.93
First MOT on 21.12.93 & issued age related Reg. No. E34 ODE First owner in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire (I have details) & then to a vicar in Goodwick, Pembrokeshire. Then on to the last owner in County Kilkenny, Ireland in the mid noughties but only registered here in 2011 (I think), on age related Reg. No. 87KK8004
Fitted with an aftermarket stainless exhaust in 2002. It also has a dash with a rev counter & speedo with warning light down the middle. Mileage (I think that's km) on release was 1851. Now at 32068.
I hoping to 'Civilianise' the paint etc. If anyone knows any good reason in the bikes history why I should retain it as is, then please let me know. On the lookout for an original toolkit to suit.

PS How do I upload images with a post?

Regards, Mark

Bike now running A1. Damaged after market in line fuel filter to blame. New fuel line & minor carb adjustment & starts first kick after 'white in the window' Very happy!!!
