I presume I could do the timing belt, but there's few other things to be done, so better to have it all done in one go. At least that's what I think.
It's handy to be know how to do it yourself. I was riding with another forum member last June when his belt went at midnight on a busy dual carriageway. Having done the job before, he was able to change it in a layby and get going again. It would have been a long wait for a recovery truck.....

Two things that tend to break are cam belts and clutch cables. Most people carry one of each and tools to change them (a couple of spanners, allen keys, a socket an screwdriver) as they can be done at the side of the road.

There are good guides with plenty of photos on replacing filters and cam belt. Worth downloading and printing, even if it's to lend to your mechanic, so he knows what to do.

I think I might have found the guilty party.

After removing the seat - I've realised that the airbox was completely sealed over. 2 layers of duct tape. The plastic part was fully opened. Obviously standard modification no.1 has been performed and then someone just sealed it solid.

I took the bike for a quick spin, but nowhere near I could do more than 60km/h (37.28 MPH) -disadvantages of living in city centre, but the bike was purring happilly on 3rd gear uphill.

Newly fitted Halfords halogen BA20D bulb still works fine. Didn't pop yet.

Greetings
Eryk

PS: See, I was doing my homework. Now I am aware not only of such a word as "airbox", but even recognized it all by myself.

Don't forget to do the carb modification if it hasn't already been done.

Not sure if you were aware but 10 Sqn were Harrier Support. They would build the Harrier landing pads/strips and maintain the 'Airfield'.

Based in Gutersloh Germany they were affectionally know as 'tin kickers'

Hi Erolek
I would rekon the Garda in Dublin will have some looking at you if u decide to take a spin down O Connell St with that gun box still on
In Ref to the Speed I did a carb mod by just changing the carb jet to a size 42 From vtwinmania.co.uk Cheap Fix Ă‚ÂŁ4.00 Bike seems to heat up quicker less choke and extra poke
All the other bits i got for my bike were from Forum Members
(GOD BLESS EM)
Only problem can be the postage to Dublin from UK
Good luck to you and the Green Giant

Hi,

I can certainly vouch for the cam belt job tutorial. I was somewhat aprehensive about changing mine, although I knew it in theory I also knew the damage that could result if not done properly. Following tutorial it was a breeze. As stated earleir, well worth knowing in case. typically, if you can do it you won't need to, if you can't you will! Waht about trying it prior to taking it for service then have friend check it?

Might have a look at that cam belt after all. Depends on the weather. It's pissing rain now, and might be like that for next 40 days or so. I don't have any shelter apart from Argos bike cover.

As for the Gradai - I think I'm on their black list already. Since I firs time appeared few years ago looking for license for the Bren gun...

By the way - airsoft SA80 is on the way...

Jolly Green Giant all pimped up and ready to go.

Most small dents on tank filled up. Tank, and plastics spray painted RAL6020, got the panniers, mirrors and that funny tyre pump. New timing belt, spark plug, spark plug cover, fuel tap with filter, new oil, new oil and air filter, new brake pads and halogen bulb.

Paperwork arrived today, so I'm going to have it taxed tomorrow.
