Hi alex. Just looking at superb job you did on engine paint. What did you use? Looked in thread regarding engine paint and was wondering if you used something different?

I used Sperex VHT matt black for the crankcases on top of an etch primer. Everything else went to a local painting company and was done in 2 pack satin black.

I think they've changed some of their product names and packaging, this stuff looks like a reasonable bet.

It looked stunning when new, compare it the photos of the sidestand taken yesterday...
A lot of the sperex was washed off when a fuel tank split although the etch primer appears to have stayed on very well. Sperex advise against using any primer but I decided to use an etch because of the reactive nature of the magnesium alloy. The professionally applied 2 pack has bubbled and lifted in places despite being vapour blasted beforehand, again this is down to corrosion of the alloy.

In summary, I can't really offer a definitive solution I'm afraid :(

Three purposeful-looking bikes there! I like your LeMans' 900SS fairing.

My S3 is an old friend and the V11 was a replacement for the Hinckley triple I left in the UK: I love the V11 but don't use it much - most of the roads I use regularly are Armstrong country.

When you know your dates for France give us a shout and maybe we could meet up.
