Firstly may i say what a cracking unmolested 500 ,you don,t find many like that.
Secondly where do you get your bike M.O.Ted because i live near you and have heard of this ex R.A.F guys buisness from someone but cannot remember where he is based(i get my M.O.T done at pete bavins in diss. I am also ex R.A.F.
Thirdly i am a shooter rimfire and shotgun and live near you and hate to be on the ponce but i would love to be able to shoot around this area as i do my rabbit/pigeon shooting in Leicestershire with my brother and mate Owen who are coincidentally both MT 350 owners. I may have mentioned i live in snetterton which is only a few miles away.
If you ever need any help or the use of tools or a garage to work on the MT you are more than welcome to come over any time.Dont do much off roading these days but we should get together and arrange a gentle ride around the Norfolk and Suffolk lanes sometime.
Steve.

Thanks for the great comments about the bike, i'm still not fully taken with it yet.. hopefully it'll grow on me!
The MOT tester is off Griston Road in Watton, I think the small road on the right handside is called WoodLane.
His name is David and he's a good guy, he helped me sort out my ped for assen!
I'll have to PM you his phone number if you need it because I think he's ex directory.
On the shooting thing I'll have to ask and find out what the calibre the land has been cleared for, I used to have tons and tons of land to shoot on but i've not visited many of them this year.
I got most of these permissions when I used to work in Churchills of Dereham.
Thanks for offer of the help with the MT I'll keep that in mind if anything does go wrong with it.
After reading all these topics about things that go wrong and things that need modding I don't know how long i'll keep the bike really, I was really after something a bit easier to look after like an XTZ 750 or an Africa Twin etc.

Re: I bought it..My Ride....The Myth...
Hi,many thanks for that.
I currently work at Kynamco ltd who have a 100 metre indoor range but target shootings not my thing. I suppose its ok to let off a few rounds and zero your rifle. I have a .22LR Cz and a Howa .223 but will probably sell that, i have pretty much handled most types of firearms in my time and even worked on aircraft cannons. safety has always been a primary concern and always respect peoples land, livestock and crops etc . Don,t get too fixated with potential problems on your MT as in general they are known for simplicity ,being reliable and easy and cheap to work on. With any web based forum you will hear about every problem that has ever cropped up on a bike from people all over the country and even the world. This gives you a dissproportionate view on the reliability as you rarely hear about the good points too. Look for any bike on the web and you could deduce that there was not a decent motorcycle ever made. Stick with it and see for yourself. The only thing that put me off the 500 and steered towards the 350 is the lack of electric start. Its not that i cant start a big four stroke single its just that sometimes if a bike is flooded or hot after you have just dropped it i find an electric start clears it a bit easier. You have got yourself a very collectable bike and a fine example of the marque. Obviously not my decision but i would be inclined to keep the MT and get a cheap japanese road based traily as well if you can afford it. I have had many enduro bikes but got fed up with loosing about a thousand pounds for every year of ownership and nobody ever wants an old enduro bike as they think it has been thrashed for years.
