Me again,

Well, very nearly there.

I sorted the rear brake caliper. Seal problems. Doughnut here put a wrong small seal in. I put 2
"O" rings in opposed to the 1 then the complete round one without holes.
Thanks to the gent who put the caliper tutorial on the web as I was able to check the picture of
the contents and position Works ok now.

I have, it seems a very small leak in the fuel tank at the seat end, the one with the bullet holes
on it
The battery is now flat and unable to kickstart the beast into life so will cheat and charge up
the battery to push button start it, then kickstarbe easier.

I have a bit of private land (a car park) I can use to test ride it before I book the MOT.

As long as I can get the cash together and all goes well (pray) I should have it legal by this spring. Could not do it last year.

Hi Keith.

I've been enjoying reading about your build without saying anything, so I thought it was time to speak up. Brilliant job you've done there! I know I'd think twice before building a bike from scratch! Good luck getting it started. I mean this is a nice, "I'm sure it'll start easy" way. As opposed to a "Bloody good luck getting that bloody thing started mate!". And let me and my shins tell you. Electric start is NOT cheating. Especially when it's the first time and you still have a bit tweaking to do!

Just been working on it this evening.

Battery charged (borrowed charger from the boss, at work not the misses )

Fired up straight away on the button then died but pumped more on the throttle and got
Persy running ok.

Took a test ride in the snow at the back of my place.
My house backs onto the sports ground next to the park so had to be double careful.

I noticed the lights kept going out then back on again.

It was the seat underneath connecting with the fuse box type thing...what's it called?

REMEDY: swapped the 2 nuts with countersunk screws which hold the connecting fork type
it that goes to the tank plus made sure I connected it to the rubber bit on the tank that bolts
to the frame.

Restarted it and jumped on the seat a few times. seems to have done the trick.

Will just need to start Persy up everyday now until I take it for an MOT.

Insurance quotes from £64 to £100 seem reasonable, fully comp.
I can legally ride it then to the test centre and back without a reg though only just down the road.
Should be up to date news early Feb.

Sorry Chaps...me again.

Thought I'd give you another update, probably laugh at me too.

OK, where do I start.

Bike was running but pipes red again but everything else all ok except tatty looking loom
near cowl and tank.

I tided up the loom by wrapping the wires in old inner tube rubber(don't tell my son)
and used gaffer tape to bind, looks so much better.
Then; me thinks to readjust the valve clearances again, my feeler guages were in thou
and not mm. I set the outlet to 4 thou and did not touch the inlet valves.

MMMM. Sod did not want to start.

So what did I do? ...Did the fuel down port hole trick(previously changed the spark gap to 7mm)=Nothing.
Checked spark= Works.
Readjust both inlet and outlet clearances AGAIN to spec.
Rechecked Timing= Bang on.
Still not fireing up?????
Put in a new spark plug= BINGO!!!

Oh well at least I covered many options.

Verdict= me a plonker, should have tried the plug earlier, at least I know all is set as should
be...I think.
