He's thinking laterally. If the tied flaps are on the inside, there is a gap between the top and the flap. When mounted sideways to the direction of travel, rain would just be funnelled inside.

Tied as they are the flaps don't give rise to a gap, rather the front one deflects wind and rain over the top. The rear flap may catch some rain of course, but hopefully would run off via the main flap before entering the pannier.

Had it been designed for motorcycle use they would ideally be handed with long leading (front) flaps covering the whole of the pannier.

Thank's, yes I did it all myself, I found the Engine quite complicated after a lifetime of British Bikes, for instance I had to strip half of the Engine just to change the Kickstart Spring, but now I am used to it I think it is a brilliant Engine. Good luck with the 350. Paul.

Congratulation and well done looks like a nice job and you should be pleased. Two months was propobally a little optimistic did you do it all yourself? Good to see you are getting it dirty as well. I have just bought an MT350 which I have just registered and it and I went for its first run out yesterday and I am already thinking of an over the winter restoration later this year

Thank's, and thank's for the advice during the rebuild. I wanted to take it to Stafford but I Saw a post about a Month back saying that you had to confirm by a certain date which has now passed, and I did not want to leave it in the Carpark and walk in through the tunnel because even if I put a chain on it, it could still be lifted into a Van by someone, never to be seen again! Then there is the question of my Lass, or rather the question of me not haveing any Pillion pegs, or rather the Mounting plates for these. Anyway it looks like she is driveing me there now, but I will say hello, I will be armed with my Verniers and a Pen and paper (to measure other peoples Pillion peg mounting plates) then I can make some.
