Ah well the bike passed it's MOT late this morning, with just about the longest MOT I've ever had done...the nice man hadn't had his hands on an MT350 before and was making the most of it, for almost an hour.
So with my brand new MOT in my hand I went to go and tax it, which was a bit difficult considering my insurance certificate was in the car with my wife, who was in Marple...so my first gentle trip out on a new bike with new tyres was Congleton to Marple, where after lots of discussions in Marple Post Office I came away with a tax disk...now it was time to put some miles on the new tyres.
First stop was Buxton...let's play in those hills...
Then back down towards Manchester...at Fallowfield.
Then to Salford...
My thoughts on my first day out...it's noisy, it's heavy, the single cylinder causes vibration which means the rear view mirrors are no use at all while riding and after my years of playing around on little bikes it feels like something the size of a battleship when it comes to stopping.
The speedo works great, but the odometer is playing silly games; I've probably put in over a hundred miles today, but it seems to think I've only done about ten.
The clutch...I'm going to have one arm like Popeye after a few months of riding, that clutch takes a hell of a lot of effort.
But despite the minor issues, I must admit if something dreadful had happened today and I'd gone under the wheels of a lorry it would have taken the undertaker a week to get the stupid grin off my face...a fun day...many more to come.

That's good news especially if they didn't find anything wrong after all that looking
You'll get used to the clutch (get a cable oiler it can make all the difference)

I know great isn't it, wait until you've had to lug it out of a bog/river/quarry/undergrowthit's noisy, it's heavy, the single cylinder causes vibration which means the rear view mirrors are no use at all while riding and after my years of playing around on little bikes it feels like something the size of a battleship when it comes to stopping.

Regarding those Z1000 replica mirrors, I got them on one of mine and sure enough you can't see nothing in them when riding, the standard ones don't have the same problem.

My trip meter does the same thing, first the reset failed, then it didnt turn over the numbers as often as it should, now it doesn't at all. Remember the odometer is in KM not miles, tell them when you get your MOTs done for the log especialy in you are on limited miles insurance.
Just remember when you hit reserve you will get an absolute MAX of 20km (this includes laying the bike down on the tap side, lifting up the wheels to get the fuel over the frame to the tap side) I know Ive done it and then had to push the rest of the way!!
You should see about 22km a Litre and my tank holds 11.7L and when I put the cap on some came out because I had filled it that much.
Enjoy!!!!

Well done, the question now is whether you're going to chance getting it dirty on Heverdots weekend 15/16 August? (I'm going in the Girlie section as an off road virgin !)
