Dog of a MT500 pt2

Post by Percy ingle » Thu Oct 08, 2020 4:47 pm

Thanks hounddog for your sound reply to my last post. My bike has a reg number and a vin tag on the headstock :D I got led astray with what I wanted to do as my Dad is very interested in the MT and wanted to see if we could get a spark! So we messed about with the bodged wiring and rigged up a battery and drilled out the ignition lock (no key.) Took out the spark plug and gave it a kick, “yippee” we have a spark! :D

Shouldn't need a battery for spark, should it? That'd be a design flaw in a military bike.

you're right in that no battery is required to start an MT.

Not sure you needed to drill out the lock. Any MT 500 key would work.
