Hi all
I don't know if you are aware but new anti tamper laws are being proposed in Parliament to prevent the modification / alteration of all motor vehicles including motorcycles. This law will be retrospectively applied to all vehicles. There is currently a petition on the government website against this draconian piece of legislation. It can be found at https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/600954.
If this legislation goes through it will effectively end any aftermarket component manufacturing and distribution unless it is manufacturers original equipment. As i am sure you are all aware not all MT parts are available and what original parts are available will be in limited supply.
The upshot of this is that the end game of this law is to get petrol/diesel vehicles off the road by making it illegal to repair / maintain with non oem parts.

Still worth signing the petition as new vehicles (curiously) very soon become second hand. Imagine not being allowed to change your end can.

From what I've read in 'The Road' (MAG magazine) it's aimed at stopping anyone interfering with modern electronic control systems rather then general parts.

The petiton has closed.
From the reply i got back they are effectively white washing it and nothing is being debated in Parliament.
I do hope it isn't retrospectively applied but that wasn't the way I interpreted the original text.
Fingers crossed it will not come into law.

Modern bus fleets in London have software installed which uses its location to restrict the vehicles speed to 1mph below the roads speed limit. This software is also installed in modem cars but is not activated. I hear its going to be activated on all new vehicles ( Battery or otherwise) in the near future.) I believe this act is to stop owners from turning this software off!
