Panniers or not

On ebay lately there have been several sets of MT350 / 500 canvas throw over panniers variously described as genuine, rare, recently released from the MOD and other assorted bollix.
They are 58 webbing large packs joined together by their straps.
These are readily available for a tenner or less, often brand new.
Hopefully this post might prevent some newer members getting ripped off to the tune of upto £80 for panniers that aren't panniers.
I haven't linked any items due to forum policy.

Yep, I caught caught on this one. I sent them back and got a refund as they were clearly misrepresented.
However they will fit nicely in a set of Adies racks.

Absolutely, and nothing wrong with using them, however, they are available for a tenner yet people are paying £40-£80 + for a set of £20 large packs, I just think the descriptions are deliberately misleading and false.

Spotted those "panniers" aswell and i sent him a message explaining his mistake when describing the items..... He still has them for sale but has changed the description slightly.
They are indeed 58 pattern large packs and not the original panniers.
