You're right about the headlamp, of course. Part of the reason for wanting to return to standard is to have the benefit of some weatherproofing of all the electrical connections.
It occurs to me that the standard (poor) headlamp with a couple of additional driving lights would look less 'wrong' than the current circular headlamp.
Not a priority for now, though.

Additional lights would be the best option , as fitting higher rated bulbs in the standard cowling can generate too much heat
A job you can tackle at leisure provided that you don't plan high speed night riding just now
